著眼全球資本市場的投資人，每天早上必做的一件事，就是閱讀國外報章雜誌的金融版。如果趕著開會、時間有限的話，只能掃過大標題。而有些字眼，一掃到心裡就會一陣煩悶。以下舉出最討厭的三個金融相關新聞用語：

Take a bath　賠慘了
Take a bath 出現在金融版，絶不是叫你「去洗澡」，而是指「損失慘重」的意思。
例：If you own stock in a company, but do not know what this firm actually does, you deserve to be taking a bath if the share price plunges.（若你持有某家公司的股票，卻不知這家公司是做什麼，一旦股價跌下來，賠慘了也是活該。）

Take it on the chin　遭重挫
字面直譯是「用下巴承接它」，想像一下，那當然很痛！所以引申為「承受嚴重的打擊」。
例：The global economies slowdown began about a year ago, and Asia’s stock markets have been taking it on the chin ever since.（全球經濟大約在一年前開始衰退，而亞洲股市也從那時起持續遭受重挫。）

Wild card　不預期
熟悉職棒的人對 wild card應不陌生，它被譯為「外卡」，是指主辦單位給的特別參賽資格。在新聞或官方正式用語中，則是指「不可預測的因素」。像美國政府就經常對外指出，兩岸關係是亞洲經濟發展中一項不可預測的因素。
例：This study has some wild cards, so I can’t tell you the result is confirmed.（這份研究報告有一些不可預測的因素，所以我無法告訴你結果是確定的。）
