「財團法人嘎檔巴佛教基金會」赤慶法王20日於板橋動物之家認養39隻流浪狗，動保處長陳淵泉指出，赤慶法王在板橋動物之家前後認養計有200多隻流浪狗，分別交由弟子在屏東、花蓮飼養，飼養的環境也常放誦經文，法王說，有些狗當聽到經文時會趴著聆聽，指其野性會跟著被馴化。

農業局長廖榮清表示，法王認養紀錄是新北市動物之家自民國71年成立以來最大的認養量。並指法王是因新北市新聞局長林芥佑介紹，今年1月份開始於新北市動物之家大量認養，前後認養高達200多隻流浪犬，這些流浪犬也分別飼養在地坪廣大的屏東、花蓮。

陳淵泉表示，赤慶法王大量認養毛寶貝給動保處相當大的鼓舞，指新北市自3月起因應動保法修法實施零安樂死，當務之急是提升動保處認養率，因此希望市民能一起推廣認養代替購買，讓新北市成為毛寶貝幸福城市。
