為求旅遊也能講求低碳環保，林務局嘉義林區管理處花季前推出4輛電動遊園車試營運，六日下午在阿里山舉行啟動儀式，下個月會將柴油中巴全改換為10輛電動中巴，成為國內率先採用合法掛牌電動中巴作為遊園車種的森林遊樂區，預估每年可減少322.75公噸的碳排放量，5年下來可減少相當於5座大安森林公園面積的森林所吸收的碳量。

阿里山森林遊樂區入園遊客數年年增加，遊園車載客量也增加許多，為推展旅遊無煙化，減少碳排放量，林管處引進20人座的電動遊園車，自今日起試營運1個月。

嘉義林區管理處處長廖一光於啟動典禮時表示，電動遊園車開駛，除提供造訪阿里山國家森林遊樂區遊客「環保」、「安靜」、「低碳」、「淨化空氣」的遊園車導覽服務外，對於鼓勵國內綠能產業及科技發展更具指標意義，期許能藉此提升臺灣旅遊品質，與國際並駕齊驅。

嘉義林管處指出，電動遊園車每日可行駛135公里，5年預估可提供800萬人次遊園服務，同時可減少1613.75公噸二氧化碳排放量，相當於5座大安森林公園面積的森林所吸收的碳量。
